The Benefits of Pediatric Dentistry
  • Routine dental visits from a young age can reduce feelings of anxiety and fear.
  • Regular dental cleanings and oral exams help prevent cavities and other common issues.
  • Dr. Schmitt can help encourage better brushing, flossing, and oral hygiene habits.
  • We provide expert dental care for children of all ages from infants to teens.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child see the dentist for the first time at 12 months or once their first tooth erupts, whichever happens first. Bringing your child to the dentist from a young age is the best way to familiarize them with the process of a dental appointment, and it also helps Dr. Schmitt track their oral development more effectively.
At Seaglass Dental Care, we offer a full suite of dental services for your little one. From teeth cleanings and oral exams to fillings, stainless steel crowns, fluoride treatments, and sedation dentistry to keep children comfortable, we offer quality dental care no matter what their needs may be.
This depends on the age of your child. If your child does not yet have most of their baby teeth, we will simply clean all of their teeth and gums, and Dr. Schmitt will conduct an oral dental exam and answer any questions you may have about your child’s oral health.
Older children who have most or all of their baby teeth will have their teeth cleaned, and Dr. Schmitt will examine their mouths. He may also recommend dental x-rays if he believes that they are necessary. You can trust that every pediatric appointment will be informative and that our entire dental team will approach your child’s visit with enthusiasm. We make it our goal to ensure that you and your little one will leave our dental office with a smile!
If your child has a cavity, we will typically recommend a filling to repair the tooth and halt the progression of decay. We offer sedation to keep you child comfortable throughout the process while Dr. Schmitt removes damaged enamel and fills the empty space with tooth-colored composite.
Fluoride treatments can help reverse minor cases of tooth decay which cause “soft spots” in the enamel. During this non-invasive, completely painless procedure, Dr. Schmitt applies a fluoride-rich gel or paste to your child’s teeth to help strengthen weakened enamel. This dental treatment takes only a few minutes after a cleaning, making it a convenient and effective way to help protect your child’s dental health.
We offer both laughing gas and oral sedation for children. If your little one is very nervous about a dental appointment, sedation may help them feel more comfortable throughout their dental visit at Seaglass Dental Care. If you’re interested in sedation or you think it may be beneficial for your child, just inquire with our team when you make your dental appointment with Dr. Schmitt. We’re happy to go over all of the details and keep you informed about all of your child’s options.
